The "Arteries" of the Mold—Hot Runner
Hot Runner Systems
What is a Hot Runner System?
A hot runner system is a heated assembly inside the mold that keeps the plastic melt in a molten state as it flows from the machine nozzle to the mold cavity. Unlike cold runners that create waste (sprue/runners), hot runners require no trimming of waste material after molding.
Technical Advantages
■ Material Saving: Eliminates sprue waste, significantly reducing raw material costs for expensive engineering plastics (e.g., PEEK, Carbon Fiber).
■ Cycle Time Reduction: Eliminates the need to cool and remove runners, resulting in higher production efficiency.
■ Quality Improvement: Ensures more uniform pressure transmission, reducing internal stress and warpage while improving surface quality.
