From Manufacturing to Inspection—The Role of Fixtures & Jigs
Fixtures & Jigs
What are Fixtures & Jigs?
In mold making and injection molding, fixtures and jigs are specialized tools that assist in production and inspection. Simply put, they are customized equipment designed to "hold positions" and "verify dimensions."
Two Core Categories
■ Machining Fixtures: Used in CNC or EDM processes to securely lock the workpiece, ensuring every cut is precise and eliminating manual clamping errors.
■ Inspection/Checking Fixtures: Tools designed to measure molded part dimensions. For complex curved parts like automotive components, standard calipers are insufficient; specific checking fixtures are required to quickly determine pass/fail.
Why It Matters
For high-volume production, fixtures multiply inspection efficiency and guarantee product consistency. Without good fixtures, stable quality control is impossible.
